Developing a strategic plan for your organization through our  facilitated process includes the following steps:

General Agenda for the Strategic Planning Complete Meeting

Here is what you can expect in the  two-day strategic planning meeting.  Specific agendas are tailored to each organization.

  • Getting ready: Identifyspecific issues and choices the process should address, clarifyroles, create a planning committee, develop an organization profile and identify the information that must be collected to help make sound decisionss
  • Articulate mission and vision: Reach consensus on why the organization exists, determineits primary business, identify its values, and create an image of what success will look like.
  • Review your strategic position: Gather up-to-date information on internal strengths and weaknessesand external opportunities and threats to develop an understanding of critical issues. Use the SWOT Tool to organize your information.
  • Agree on priorities: Identify the broad approaches (strategies) for addressing criticalissues and the results to be sought (long-term and short-term) objectives and goals. Then you and your team will have agreement on key priorities.
  • Organize the plan: Put the pieces together into one coherent document that is practical,implementable, and easily managed and monitored.
  • Identify next actions: Once the plan is together in one cohesive document, determine nextactions for each team, individual, and department.
  • Roll-out the plan: Communicate the plan across the organization so everyone knows the game plan.
  • Hold everyone accountable: Monitor your plan by reporting performance metrics on a monthlyor quarterly basis. Keep track of all measures by regularly updating the organization’s scorecard. Hold people accountable for making sure organizational activities are happening. Link to incentive compensation if possible. Hold monthly or quarterly strategy staff meetings. Evaluate performance and what is happening.  Make corrections based on key measurements. Manage activities to drive future results.
